Doha, Qatar: Doha Festival City, Qatar’s one and only choice for shopping, dining and entertainment, hosted a recycling initiative organized by Al Daayen Municipality to mark World Environment Day. The two-day event saw a recycling campaign and interesting activities for children.
World Environment Day is the world’s largest platform for raising public awareness about the environment and is celebrated by millions of people around the world. Led by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), it has been held annually on June 5 since 1973. This year it was held in Sweden under the slogan #OnlyOneEarth with a focus on sustainable living in harmony with nature.
Thanks to the joint recycling initiative of the Municipality of Al Daayen and the Doha Festival, visitors to the mall were able to claim reusable bottles from event partners Daiso and Ikea after recycling 10 plastic bottles for single use. The event also hosted a special children’s activation where the youngest attendees enjoyed a coloring activity.
