Governor proclaims September 26 to October 26. 1 week of outdoor learning

To emphasize the importance of taking children outside, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham issued a proclamation declaring that New Mexico’s second annual convention Outdoor Learning Week runs from September 26 to October 26. 1, 2022.

environmental education of New Mexico (EENM) and its network of over 170 outdoor and environmental learning centers organizations will celebrate by taking children outside for fun lessons and bringing the community together to learn and share at the Virtual Outdoor Learning Symposium.

All New Mexico Children deserve the meaningful experiences and sense of discovery that result from outdoor learning.

Research shows that when young people are supported in their daily outdoor experiences, they are healthier and
acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to find innovative solutions to today’s problems.

During Outdoor Learning Week, EENM encourages educators across the state to engage students
in outdoor activities that are fun and encourage outdoor learning with a raffle. The EENM is also organize a virtual symposium on outdoor learning which consists of two sessions aimed at developing outdoor education statewide by igniting the enthusiasm of formal and informal educators engage their students and give them the tools they need.

Outdoor Learning Week 2022 to understand (eenm.org/week):

  • Outdoor Learning Prize Draw – EENM calls on educators to engage students in their
    favorite outdoor learning activity or use one of the free lessons on our website. When
    educators take a photo, share it on social networks and tag the EENM, they will be registered in a
    drawing for a price. Educators can win a $50 gift card to a local institution in their
    and organizations can win a free one-year EENM membership.
  • Outdoor Learning Symposium, 4-5:30 p.m., September 27-29 – These two
    virtual sessions are open to anyone interested in learning more about the outdoors
    learn and how to engage students. EENM will feature inspiring speakers from around the world
    indicate who will share their knowledge on the design, construction and use of outdoor classrooms in
    Session 1 and local, standards-compliant outdoor learning programs in Session 2.
