Outdoor Learning for Kids at The Ridges

Does your child loves nature? Consider these nature-based programs at The Ridges Sanctuary, 8166 Hwy 57 in Baileys Harbor.

Dragonfly Nature Kindergarten go running January 26 – May 25. Students will use classroom space in antique cabins and the Nature Center, but time to go to class will mainly be spent outside, hike and play in the boreal forest, sand dunes, prairie, stream, garden and pine forest.

nature explorers is a science education program for homeschooled students levels 1-3 who enjoy hands-on outdoor learning. With vocational training educator as a guide, students raise across diverse ecosystems, learn to record their remarks and questionsengage in practical work surveys and make personal connections with the natural world. Curriculum will be aligned with Next Generation Science Standards and Wisconsin Standards for Environmental Literacy and Sustainability.

Classes are $20 and meet January 24, February 7 and March 7. There is a limit of 12 students per class.

little hikers the sessions will meet over four Tuesdays, from February 1 to 22, 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. This program – for children who can walk up to 3 years old – seeks to create a foundation of love and respect for the natural world through active play in nature with caregivers and other children.

the Cost is $40 per child/caregiver, plus an additional $20 for siblings. Meetings are limited to eight participants and their caregivers.
