Virginia Beach, a popular seaside town, is the perfect place for families to experience a wide variety of food and activities while soaking up the fresh coastal air.
The Virginia Beach Boardwalk at Oceanfront alone offers 3 miles of fun for visitors of all ages. JT’s Grommet Island Park is the perfect beach park for kids, with sand tables, cast-in-place surfing, a stabilizer boat, and a sensory board for autistic and blind children. For adults, the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier is a great place to spend an afternoon relaxing and catching fish. The whole family will love the promenade cycle path, ideal for walking, cycling and rollerblading, and the nightly summer entertainment on its four seaside stages.
When it comes to eating, the walk doesn’t disappoint. For more than 40 years, the Chix Seaside Grille and Bar has been a staple on the Virginia Beach boardwalk, serving everything from juicy burgers and hand-cut steaks to savory salads and classic seafood dishes. It also offers some of the most popular alcoholic drinks, including crushed cocktails, wine, and draft beers. The Ocean 27 Beach Bar is the perfect place to cool off after a long day of exploring the city. It’s known for its wide variety of cocktails and tacos on the boardwalk, which come in a variety of flavors, including Baja fish, chicken, and shrimp. Visitors can also enjoy live entertainment and lawn games like cornhole, bocce, and giant beer pong.
For those looking to add a little learning to their trip, the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center is a must-see attraction. Visitors can explore over 100 exhibits featuring animals like seals, turtles, sharks, and even Komodo dragons. Guests can also take a boat trip to look for dolphins and see other marine life in Virginia along the way. The aquarium allows visitors a limited capacity and all guests must have face covering and social distancing. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and intensified cleaning procedures will be in effect.
Atlantic Fun Park brings the excitement of an amusement park to the beach. The park features a variety of thrill rides such as the Gravitron, Slingshot, and Sea Dragon. There are also a handful of family-friendly rides, including the Classic Ferris Wheel, Flying Bobs, and a climbing wall. Motor World’s go-kart tracks allow customers to step up and race on a wide range of tracks for people of all ages.
